1367 MT wheat procured from farmers: Rajinder Garg

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Rajinder Garg said here today that the state government has made available wheat procurement facility at the minimum support price for convenience of the farmers of the state. He said that five wheat procurement centers have been set up at Paonta Sahib and Kala Amb in Sirmaur district, Haroli and Takrala in Una district and Fatehpur in district Kangra.

He said that to facilitate the farmers of border areas of the state wheat procurement centers were also being opened in Indora and Nalagarh which would be made functional from 2 May, 2021. Similarly, a wheat procurement center will be set up at Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district.
Rajinder Garg said that so far 1367 MT wheat has been procured from 359 farmers of the state while wheat worth Rs 2.70 crore has been procured through Food Corporation of India.

He said that the procurement of wheat has been started from 15th April, 2021 and would continue till 31st May, 2021. The period of procurement would be extended if required, he added.
