Will congress able to perform at the national level alike 3 major state’s victory:2019 general election

19-12-2018: TAC NEWS BUREAU- BY ANJAN KUMAR SAMAL

Rahul Gandhi’s first year as the Congress President has driven through electoral developments in the recent past including three major state’s victory. Before that he was the vice president of the party and his tenure of vice president was  absolutely considered weak.

Despite that he became the president of the party and for the past one year, he has been playing the vital  role of Congress party chief.

He smoothly gained  his mother Sonia Gandhi’s place on December 16 last year and was made the president.

Just before completing  one year, the Congress party succeeded in winning elections in three Hindi-speaking states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh which must also  strenthen party in other Hindi-Sp[eaking States across India.

There is nothing better than this victory for Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress has won a decisive victory in Chhattisgarh. The party has not only tasted defeat to the rival party, but has made a strong comeback in the vote share with unprecedented  maximum seats. There was a big difference between the Congress and the BJP’s votes received and this victory proved to be the biggest victory in electoral history.

The defeat of BJP is notable because the party had demonstrated the model of governance for the poor and its achievements were counted.

In this time of rural and agricultural crisis, this victory indicates what will be achieved in the forthcoming general elections: Electoral magnitude of Telangana on anti-BJP votes shows that these votes can not be completely in favor of the Congress.

Talking of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the BJP and the Congress had the opposite of the thorn. In the vote share, BJP was ahead of Congress in Madhya Pradesh, but eventually succeeded in forming a Congress government.

For this, the Congress has taken the help of its allies and it is expected that they will carry them along for 2019.

Returning to 2018, this victory of Congress has filled the enthusiasm of party workers before the general elections and has removed all the doubts which raised questions about the qualification of Rahul Gandhi as president.

This victory will increase the acceptability of their leadership potential.

Out of the 65 Lok Sabha seats in these three states, BJP is at 59 at present. As the voting pattern is ahead of the assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, it is expected that the Congress can win 33 seats out of this 59 in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. At present, there are only six Congress MPs from these three states.

This victory in the assembly elections has put a stop to the questions of the other parties that what will be the axis of the BJP alliance coalition in 2019.

Recently, DMK’s MK Stalin and NCP’s Sharad Pawar have raised voice in support of Rahul. MK Stalin has proposed Rahul Gandhi to be the Prime Ministerial candidate for the united grand opposition.

In the last one year, Congress has managed to increase its seat and vote share in a state like Gujarat. The party is also  in the government in Karnataka. All this has happened under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.

In February this year, the Congress had won in the by-polls of two Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan. These elections were held in Alwar and Ajmer.

But the victory of December is different from all these victories in many ways.

In December 2013, the way the party had lost power in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Delhi, it took the party down a lot.

In the subsequent Lok Sabha elections, only 44 candidates of the party could get the Lok Sabha.

On December 01, 2013 the results of the Rajasthan elections were announced. The party slipped from 96 to the graph of 21 seats.

The Congress has consistently ruled Delhi for 15 years. There was anger among the people against the Congress, which benefited a new party from the Aam Aadmi Party and they were successful in coming to power.

In the assembly elections held in 2015, the Aam Aadmi Party performed better and the Congress could not win any single seat. The public evicted Congress from all the 70 seats of Delhi.

Even after annoyance towards the rule of ten years in Madhya Pradesh, BJP succeeded in coming to power in the year 2013. The party won 165 out of a total of 230 seats.

For the Congress, the five years of exile has ended. However, it would not be proper to say that it will be able to perform similarly on the national flag in 2019.

In 2014, the difference between BJP and Congress was consequently  282 and 44 seats which still pinch the each and every congress worker across the Nation

Strategy

Prior to Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan elections, Congress had promised farmers debt relief and job creation, which would not be easy for Congress governments to fulfill.

Even though coming to power in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, the Congress has forgiven the debt of farmers for two lakh rupees.

In Madhya Pradesh, Congress has promised to create Goshala in all 23 thousand Gram Panchayats to woo BJP’s voters.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi has been making rounds of temples since last one year. He is also accused of adopting Soft Hindutva.

After winning the election, he set up Kamal Nath on the chiefministership of Madhya Pradesh, who has been accused of joining the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The Congress is doing all that possible as a political alternative, but shall it happen in 2019 is now in the hand of time tide.

Rahul Gandhi can now count many achievements in the name of himself. The way in which he has elected chief ministers in three states, it is a message that if young people come like leaders of new India along with the experience of the old people can not be  be overlooked.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, to fight the BJP and Amit Shah, the congress party has  to create a strong alliance, which can provide a better challenge in the states against Modi Sarkaar. Rahul will have to carry those parties along with other for the final count down of 2019 general election.
