New Delhi: Lt Governor Anil Baijal held a high-level meeting on Friday in the state of planting during monsoon. It was done by the concerned agencies to meet the goal of planting. In the meeting Forest and Environment Minister Imran Hossain, DDA, New Delhi Municipal Council, Northern and Eastern Corporation and officials of the department were also present.
On this occasion, forest department officials gave a detailed presentation regarding the plantation and suitable species to be planted at green areas that includes district wise green areas, within Delhi. LG was told that the proposed plantation target for all the concerned agencies of Delhi for the year 2018-19 is about 28 lakhs, of which DDA has the highest of 10 lakhs, while Forest Department is 4,25,000, Public Works Department is 2.75,000 and The education department has a target of 1,25,000.
The Lt Governor suggested to make integrated rules of plantation for Delhi so that all the departments would work on it. He asked to explore the possibility of developing Delhi as a City Forest and asked to complete the plantation target by September 30.
The Lt Governor instructed that the government officials should plants around their offices and include the people in this campaign.Mr. Baijal convenes high-level meeting with officials at ‘Raj Nivaas’ and urged to explore the every possibility of developing the National Caputal as a city forest.
