Jaitley had earlier treated his illness in the US, due to which he was away from government work. He also refused to join the government after the Lok Sabha elections. With this, there has been a stir in the BJP. Many veteran leaders including PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have reached AIIMS to meet Arun Jaitley.

Apart from these, Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla have also reached AIIMS to know the condition of Jaitley. Actually, Jaitley’s health was not so well even during the first term of Modi government. But he was treated in the US and became well. Earlier, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had held the Ministry of Finance as Carrier Finance Minister.

The 66-year-old Jaitley traveled to the US on 13 January 2019. According to sources, he also underwent screening for a deadly disease like ‘soft tissue’ cancer. Apart from this, Jaitley has  kidney problems.

He was also a minister without portfolio from May 14, 2018 to August 23, 2018.
