Sunil Chattrapal Kedar, a second-generation congress leader from Kaunpur, pledging his loyalty to the Gandhi’s, slammed his counterparts Prithviraj Chavan, Mukul Wasnik and Milind Deora, for writing a letter to the Congress Party Chief, Sonia Gandhi asking for a full-time, entirely visible, effective and active leadership.

Kedar’s threat came ahead of the Congress Working Committee meeting on Monday when pro- and anti- Rahul Gandhi groups are likely to debate the content of the letter written by 23 senior party leaders asking for reforms on the party’s leadership practices. The letter seems to have given way to bedlam within the party.
“I wholeheartedly support Hon. Sonia Gandhi ji as president. It’s shameful on Mukul Wasnik, Prithviraj Chavan and Milind Deora to raise questions on the leadership of the Gandhi family. These leaders must apologise for their act immediately. Otherwise Congress workers will see how they move in state freely,” Kedar tweeted Sunday night.
“Congress can give fight to BJP government only when the party has Gandhi as its head. This is high time to stand firmly behind Sonia ji’s leadership,” he added.
Sunil Kedar holds the positions of Dairy, Animal Husbandry, Youth Welfare and Sports in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government comprising the Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress. At a news conference in Nagpur, Kedar said he stood by his remarks. “So-called intellectuals of the Congress have taken a stand on the leadership issue which is not acceptable to common Congress workers like us,” he said.
His cabinet colleague for relief and rehabilitation Vijay Wadettiwar said that Congress MLAs would bring down the Maharashtra government if Rahul Gandhi so desired. When asked if Gandhi was against the idea of Congress joining the Maharashtra federation government, Wadettiwar said: “It is not true that he was not keen. If that were so, this government would not have happened. If tomorrow Rahul Gandhi becomes party president and asks us to leave the alliance, we will not stay in government for a minute longer.”
Yashomati Thakur, another minister in the state government, said Rahul Gandhi should lead the party. “Gandhi is not a ‘Family’ it’s ‘DNA of India’. If Soniyaji has made up her mind then Rahulji should lead the party. India Needs Rahul ji,” she said in a tweet on Monday.
