Cyclone Nisarga makes landfall in Maharashtra

TAC News: Cyclone Nisarga which is the first cyclone to affect Maharashtra in the past 72 years has made landfall this afternoon. It had intensified into a ‘super cyclonic storm’ today morning. A civic official has come forward saying that Mumbai has escaped cyclonic damage and is safe now. But it still remains on high alert.

Prohibitory orders had been placed in Mumbai, banning the movement of people along the coast. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Gujarat and the administrators of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and assured all possible support required. No one is allowed to come out in public places like beaches, parks and promenades along the Mumbai coastline. The ban shall continue from Wednesday morning till Thursday noon, the police said in the order and anyone caught violating the ban will face criminal action.
