‘Degree in return of sex’, Professor Gets Bail After 11 months of Arrest.

The alleged Professor used to lure women students for good marks  and turned them to keep  physical relations with the senior officials of Madurai Kamaraj University.

Madras High Court has granted conditional bail after 11 months of arrests to the accused Professor in the sensational sex scandal .A Madurai Bench comprising Justice N Kirubakaran  and SS Sundar,  has granted bail to the accused the suspended Assistant Professor Nirmala Devi.

The professor  allegedly  used to lure girl  students to have good numbers along with money in return of physical relations with the senior officials of Madurai Kamaraj University. The prosecutor urged in the court that there is no objection to granting her bail. The court has instructed the professor to cooperate fully with the Madurai police in the investigation and did warn not to give any interviews in the media, which may affect the investigation.

Earlier, the lower court and the High Court had rejected the bail petition of accused Professor. Nirmala Devi was arrested on April 16 last year  from a private college  that is named as Devenga Art College.

 After an audio viral of the conversation with the professors, action was taken against the college and after a concerned complaint of a women’s forum. In the audio clip, the professor was allegedly recommending  girl students for keeping illicit sex relationship with some  University officers.

Before the arrest, the college had suspended the professor after internal inspection. The issue was handed over to the state’s CID after the audio came to the lime  light. On the basis of inquiries and primary investigation with Mr Nirmala Devi, the police had also arrested an another Assistant Professor V Murugan and Research student Karrupasamy on the charge of conspiracy in  the  said case. After the petition was dismissed by the High Court, the two were granted bail by the Supreme Court.

In September last year, CB-CID filed a 200 page charge sheet in the court. Earlier, a charge sheet of 1600 pages was filed in July.
