HIGH COURT (Delhi) SOUGHT RECIPROCATION : JNU VIOLENCE

Delhi High Court categorically called on Delhi Police, Google Inc, Delhi Government along with WhatsApp Inc and Apple Inc to provide their immediate reply regarding the hooliganism inside the JNU campus.

This stricture of Delhi high court came after a petition was filed by three senior professors of JNU appealing the esteemed court to take quick and necessary directions to Delhi Police Commissioner and Delhi Government.

The court directed all the links as mentioned above to preserve data, CCTV footage and all the related evidence concerning the issue of violence inside the varsity campus.

Delhi Police also informed the High court that it has ordered the varsity administration to preserve data and hand over CCTV footage of this much-hyped issue of violence.

On behalf of Delhi Government, standing counsel Rahul Mehra informed the court that still Delhi police have not received any response from the JNU administration.

Rahul Mehra further also informed Delhi High court that Delhi Police has requested ‘WhatsApp’ to preserve data including messages, Pictures, Videos and Phone Numbers of two involved groups “Unity against Left” & “Friends of RSS” regarding the JNU campus violence.

JNU professors Ameet Parameswaran, Atul Sood, and Vinayak Sawant dared to file this petition and appealed the High Court to call on Delhi Police Commissioner along with Delhi Government. The petition further sought necessary steps to be taken by the court to restore data and CCTV footage on the day of violence in the Varsity campus.

Justice Brijesh Sethi of Delhi High Court listed this matter for further hearing as on January 14, 2020.
