In recent years some countries of the world have witnessed the horrific tragedy of the Tsunami Whether it was a Sumatran-Andaman incident in 2004 or a tsunami in North Japan in 2011, no one has forgotten the gravest damage caused due to this unprecedented natural calamity. At the same time, all the researchers believe that a slight increase in the water level in the sea at present  can also increase the risk of devastation of unforeseen Tsunami. The main reason for this water level rise is absolutely climate change.

According to the researchers, everyone is aware about the danger of rising sea level in the coastal cities , but a new study has shown that Tsunami after the earthquake threatens towns and habitats far apart from coastal cities also. After the 2011 earthquake in Tohoku-oki, a large part of northern Japan was devastated by the tsunami, and it also caused heavy damage to a nuclear plant and radioactive radiation was born.

On the other hand, Robert Wes, a subsidiary of Virginia Tech of USA, said, “Our study says that the threat of tsunami has increased greatly due to rising sea levels, this means that in the future, the small tsunami can have a big impact. . ‘ This study has been published in the journal ‘Science Advance’.

For this study, the researchers created an artificial tsunami at the existing water level in Macau, China, from the computer and increased the water level from 1.5 to 3 feet. Set in southern China, Macau is a highly densely populated coastal region, which is usually protected from tsunami risk. Macau can be submerged with an 8.8-magnitude earthquake in the current sea level, but the repercussions due to the increase in artificial water level surprised the team.

With the rise of 1.5 feet in the water level, the danger of Tsunami increased by 1.2 to 2.4 times, and increased by 1.5 to 4.7 times with three feet increase in sea water level.

Lynn Lin Lee, senior researcher of the Earth Observatory of Singapore said, “We found that the intensity of the earthquake has also increased due to the high intensity earthquake, which is not dangerous in the existing water level, but in the case of high water level, there can be a gale wave. . ‘

It is believed that the water level in Macau will increase to 1.5 feet in 2160 and 3 feet in 2100. The major threat of tsunami in South China Sea is mainly from Manila Trench. There has not been an earthquake of more than 7.8 magnitude since the 1560s in Manila Trench. At the same time, the researcher cautioned that there are many such symptoms in the region, due to which in 2004 Sumatra-Andaman and in 2011, there was an earthquake in northern Japan, in which many people had lost their lives.
