Indian Air Force leader died in MiG-21 jet crash

Bristi Adhikary// An Indian Air Force Squadron leader Abhinav Choudhary succumbed to death due to MiG-21 aircraft crashed near Moga in Punjab on Friday. The incident took place around 1 am in the morning in Langiana Khurd village of Baghapurana in Moga. An IAF aircraft was on routine training when the incident happened.

Indian Air Force tweeted, ‘There was an aircraft accident last night involving a Bison aircraft of IAF in the western sector. The pilot, Sqn Ldr Abhinav Choudhary, sustained fatal injuries. IAF condoles the tragic loss and stands firmly with the bereaved family.’ Also, ‘A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident’

The pilot’s body was found 2 km away from the site and 200 meters from a couple of haveli. The pilot used to stay in Ganganagar in Meerut. But he was actually from Baghpat.

This is the third crash of MiG-21. Before this crash, in March, a Group Captain of the IAF was killed in an accident in AMiG-21 Bison aircraft. This was the second crash. And the first crash was MiG 21 Bison aircraft has crashed in Rajasthan’s Suratgarh while landing. But in the first, the pilot was taken out of the aircraft carefully.
