NGT fined Rs 10,000 by imposing a misleading report on UPPCB

National Green Tribunal (National Green Tribunal) imposed a fine of 10,000 rupees on the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board after the board giving ‘misleading’ report on the inspection of two industrial units in Ghaziabad.

The bench headed by NGT President Justice Adarsh ​​Kumar Goel said that the UPPCB report is not at all an answerable report as the team has not even been visited at these industrial units. The said Tribunal was hearing the petition of Arvind Mahipal, on his appeal who hails from that city.

The petitioner had demanded action against polluting activities of Surya Nagar Express Engineering and Spare Pvt. Ltd in Ghaziabad.

The bench said that such misleading report we impose a fine of Rs 10,000 on UPPCB and the fined amount has to be deposited in CPCB within a month.

This amount should be recovered from the concerned person who is responsible for providing such a misleading report. The bench again directed that Prime Authorities of UPPCB should identify such  person and take appropriate action against him.
