Successful Completion of Two days Jamia International Conference on Education (JICE-2024)

New Delhi: The Department of Teacher Training and Non-formal Education, Jamia Millia Islamia organized a two-day Jamia International Conference on Education on 14th & 15th  February, 2024. The theme of the conference was ‘Transforming Indian Education Post-NEP- 2020: Connecting to the Past – Targeting at the Future’. Offg. Vice Chancellor of Jamia, Prof. Eqbal Hussain presided over the inaugural and Valedictory function of the conference held on 14 and 15 February 2024 respectively. The conference was organized in hybrid mode. Prof. H.C.S. Rathore graced the occasion in its inaugural function and Prof. Dhananjay Joshi, Vice Chancellor Delhi Teacher`s University, graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the Valedictory function. The keynote address in inaugural function was given by Prof. Jyotsna Patanaik, California State University, Long Beach, USA and Prof. M. A. Siddiqui, former Chairman, NCTE, Delhi.  In the valedictory function the keynote was delivered by prof. Theodoros Karakasidis, from Greece and plenary talk was delivered by Prof. Joey Martinez Dela Cruz of University of Alba, Philippines. Head, IASE, Prof. Jessy Abraham and the Conference Convener Prof. Jasim Ahmad, Prof. Naheed Zahoor, the Co- Chair of the conference and Organizing Secretaries Prof. Roohi Fatima, Dr. Aerum Khan and Dr. Ansar Ahmad graced the occasion and also there were a number of experts from all over India and the world to grace the occasion. In the inaugural function, the compendium of the abstracts of JICE-2024 was released followed by the release of three edited books as the outcome of JICE-2022, titled as ‘ICT Integration in Education’, ‘Outcome Based Curriculum and Pedagogy’ and ‘Education for Inclusion and Equity’. The magazine of the department ‘Shahr-e-Arzoo” was released on the occasion of the valedictory programme. The programme was attended by many distinguished personalities like Prof. Mohd Miyan, Prof. Ilyas Hussain, Prof. Talat Aziz, Prof. Mini S. Thomas, and many other Deans of the faculties and Heads of the Departments of JMI. The programme was attended by around 400 participants in offline mode and around 200 in online mode. A total number of 152  research papers were presented in 25 parallel sessions during the two days conference.

Prof. Equbal Hussain, in his address, focused on the need of adaptation to fit into the present age of digitization. Prof. H. C. S. Rathor spoke about the present scenario of Higher education along with the philosophical perspective of dharma. Prof. Dhananjay Joshi spoke about different Education policies like: NEP-2020, NPE-1986, Kothari commission and Yashpal committee. Prof. Theodoros Karakasidis, spoke in-depth on various LMS pressing areas in the field of education in general and teacher education in particular. Prof. Joey Martinez Dela Cruz also highlighted the issues in Research Ethics and talked about how to take care of ethical issues in research.

Prof. Jasim Ahmad,  convener of the conference, read the background paper in the inaugural function and presented the conference report in the valedictory programme.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Aerum Khan and Dr. Ansar Ahmad. It began with Qirat by Mr. Mohd. Jawed Khan and Jamia Tarana by team of Mr. Zeeshan Zameer.  The programme ended with the national anthem.
