Congress questioned, why did not the Modi’s 2.0 Government modernize the Air Force’s ‘old’ AN-32 fleet?

After flying from Jorhat of Assam towards Arunachal Pradesh, Indian National Congress party has expressed concern over the security and efficient use of Indian Air Force personnel on the AN-32 aircraft  that has gone missing after entering into the state of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday and questioned the Union Government in regard to replacement the old AN-32 fleet.

Congress chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala said that the defense minister should answer that why the Indian Air Force had lost AN-32 aircraft that was approaching through Andaman and Nicobar Islands way, then why the steps were not taken after this to find out in terms of where about of AN-32 aircraft.

Surjewala said on Twitter: “Prayers for the safety and well-being of missing aircraft AN-32 crew membersof the Indian Air Force. It is sad to know that AN-32 had  Signal system  has become outdated. “He further claimed,” The government should tell to the republic of India that why despite the agreement of India and Ukraine in 2009 to modernize the AN 32 in which the Government of India found under the mindset of laxity.”

He said that the government and the defense ministry should also reply, “Why was an old aircraft like AN-32  on such a dangerous and uncertain route, when we had  many other better options. Apart from this, why did the government not make any provision in the defense budget to mordenize the fleet of AN-32 aircraft?” 

A comprehensive search campaign has been launched two days after the disappearance of AN-32 in the thick forest in ‘Menchuka’ of Arunachal Pradesh.

The search operation involves a large squad of aircraft, helicopters and jawans, and snapping  pictures from the satellite is also being used.
