Dengue: Threats of Lives in Illegal Colonies of South Delhi

New Delhi: In the brink of monsoon,  Health Department of MCD of North Delhi has started preparations for dealing with dengue. Out of 50 Lakh houses 5449 houses spotted as the breeding ground of Dengue Mosquito .

Legal notice has been issued to 5011 people and invoices have been made against the rest. As many as 1420 domestic breeding checkers have been fielded to sprinkle medicines to get rid of Dengue. According to MCD officials, counts of mosquito larvae may increase after rains during Monsoon . Preparations have been started from now on.

BUT SOUTH MCD LACKS SUCH SMARTNESS

Monsoon has not yet knocked in Delhi. But in outer Delhi including south Delhi , illegal colonies have remained sensitive in the case of dengue.

There are 18 such areas of South MCD Area alone, in which Dengue is facing a severe danger. The streets of Old Delhi include deputy Ganj, Padma Nagar, Subhadra Colony, Kurdeshia Park,Ajmeri Gate, Bazar Sita Ram,Delhi Gate, Bali Maran,Nabi Karim are more sensetaive than any other place in the National Capital.

According to a senior officer of the South MCD Health Department, the dengue mosquito larvae are being found in most of the illegal colonies due to dense population. Secondly, the water tanks made up in the premises of houses have been left open. The larvae are being found in there. Officers claim that after breeding, dengue mosquitoes can fly up to 3 meters high and reach a tank to another. All colonies in the outskirts of the South MCD area, have such problems. Apart from this, 60 areas of North Delhi  MCD are sensitive in case of dengue.

The sensitive areas of South MCD Area include Shahin Bagh, Jaitpur, Badarpur, Dakshapuri, Madangir, Sangam Vihar, Mehrauli, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj, Najafgarh, Uttam Nagar.
