NDRF deploys teams for cyclone Nisarga

Not even two weeks after Amphan a super cyclonic storm hit eastern India and caused a lot of damage, India faces the threat of another cyclone this time on its western coast. This cyclonic storm could be the first tropical cyclone in 129 years to hit Maharashtra. The IMD had earlier issued an orange alert for Mumbai and Thane and a red alert for Palgarh. This threat comes at a time when the state of Maharashtra is already struggling with a dramatic rise in its number of coronavirus cases — already past the 70,000 mark.

Two NDRF teams have been deployed in Palghar, three teams in Mumbai. one in Thane, 2 teams in Raigad and one team in Ratnagiri.

The administration of these districts has been asked by the state government to shift all the people along the shoreline to relief centres.
