TAC Features: Akanksha has been doing storytelling from over a decade now as she feels that stories have the power to change a life. Specially kids can learn a lot through stories. She believes that storyteller is a medium to connect kids to the unknown and look at life through a different perspective.
Akanksha opines that a storyteller has the power to change someone’s life through their storytelling skills.
In 100th episode of ‘mann ki baat’ prime minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasised on the importance of storytelling in educational institutions and asked them to make it mandatory in their curriculum for better learning and growth of students.
Akanksha has been taking storytelling sessions in different schools across India. She conducts theme based workshops that revolve around different social aspects. Her choice of stories encourage and inspire kids to read good books for their overall development. Being an avid book blogger she has already recommended more than 200 children books on her blog akankshastoryteller.wordpress.com.
She makes even the most sensitive and serious topics, light hearted and interesting through her simple yet impactful stories. Her sessions are always very interactive where the kids get to open up about their opinions and views and narrate their own stories. She wants kids to be more expressive through their stories. For tiny tots akanksha uses props like hand puppets and toys to evoke interest. Her sole purpose is to make kids of all ages fall in love with books .
Akanksha expresses that in today’s world where we all have gone through so much stress due to the pandemic, books are the best healer. Specially for kids to keep them away from social media distractions. She lives being a storyteller as she feels that she’s connecting kids to the unexplained, unexplored and undiscovered horizon through storybooks.
