Rwanda celebrates 28th Liberation Day attended by Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi

New Delhi: Rwanda, a nation under the continent of Africa, celebrated its 28th Liberation Day on 4 July at a hotel in Delhi. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Rwanda’s High Commissioner to India Jacqueline Mukangira said, “India and the East African country have always shown strong signs of brotherhood. There have been many visits to both countries which have further strengthened the bilateral ties. We are sure that India-Rwanda relations will continue to grow stronger in future also.

Along with this, Jacqueline Mukangira also urged for investment in Rwanda. “The business environment in Rwanda is very favorable compared to other countries of the continent of Africa, registration and other procedures for business are completed there even in a period of just six hours,” he said. Apart from this, Rwanda is also attracting towards it in terms of tourism and natural beauty.

At the same time, Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi said, today on the occasion of Liberation Day of Rwanda, on behalf of the Government of India and the people of India, I congratulate the people of Rwanda and the government there because Independence Day is very important for any country. Rwanda got independence 28 years ago after a massive struggle and after that democracy was established there. Describing India and Rwanda as very old friendly countries, Meenakshi Lekhi further said, ‘Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi met each other at many events, not only during the challenging times of the Kovid-19 epidemic. Both the leaders also kept in touch with each other. India and Rwanda have close ties and both countries are seen standing together in various forums like development apart from mutual investment.

Artists from India and Rwanda also gave dance performances during the Liberation Day event. While Indian artists performed in traditional and folk dance styles, Rwandan artists also performed in the local style. A colorful program was also presented together by the artists of both countries in the form of Jugalbandi, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the people present in the program. High commissioners and representatives of more than 50 countries of Europe and Africa continent also participated in this program of Liberation Day of Rwanda.
